Veteran corporate affairs leader joins M&T to strengthen communications, stakeholder engagement and government affairs efforts

BUFFALO, N.Y., Aug. 4, 2026 — M&T Bank Corporation (NYSE: MTB) today announced that industry veteran Ryan Stanton has been named the new Chief Corporate Affairs Officer – leading M&T’s Communications, Government Affairs, Public Relations and Reputation Management teams.
Stanton will serve as the organization’s chief communications, reputation and stakeholder engagement strategist, responsible for aligning these efforts with business and market strategy. He will be based in Buffalo and report to Krista Phillips, Chief Customer and Transformation Officer & Delaware Regional President.
Stanton brings more than two decades of corporate reputation, public affairs, crisis management and regulatory engagement experience. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Head of Global Reputation & Issues Management at PwC, where he advised CEOs and executive leadership teams around the globe on enterprise reputation, crisis response and risk management, regulatory engagement and public trust strategies. A Western New York native, Stanton returns to Buffalo after a career spent advising organizations across the country and around the world.
