Saving to meet long-term goals is a bedrock of the American dream. To help promote saving, M&T Bank stretched America Saves Week into a month with its 'Save & Win Sweepstakes.'

The public was invited to submit entries to the sweepstakes for an opportunity to win $5,000 toward their savings goals. Customers were automatically entered when depositing money to their savings accounts.

When Amber Lamey got the phone call informing her that of nearly 700,000 entries, she had been randomly selected as the winner, she misunderstood and thought she won $500. Only when she received the confirmation letter did she learn that, in fact, the prize was $5,000. 

Amber and Keith Lamey have been customers of the bank for 26 years. They are strong believers in careful spending and saving as much as possible. 
                                                                               
The family visited the Grand Ole Opry last year and loved it so much that they wished they could go back, but another visit to Nashville wasn’t in their budget. They will use their winnings to make that dream a reality.
