BALTIMORE, Md.—M&T Bank will install 22 ATMS in nine of the largest shopping malls in the region, bringing greater convenience and access to its customers and to shoppers.
M&T will become the exclusive ATM provider for seven malls in Maryland, and will also have the ability to hold special events and other marketing initiatives in the malls, creating a platform for the bank to expand its presence in the region.
“M&T Bank is pleased to provide added convenience and service to shoppers at the finest malls in the region,” said Atwood “Woody” Collins III, President of M&T Bank’s Mid-Atlantic Division. “This agreement will further develop our customer relationships, enhance our visibility and expand our involvement with the community.”
This marks the second major ATM expansion for M&T in the past two years, following the 18 ATMs that were installed in January 2007 at Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington Airport.
M&T will provide ATMs at the following Baltimore-area malls: Columbia Mall, Towson Town Center, White Marsh Mall, Owings Mills Mall, Mondawmin Mall and the Gallery at Harborplace.
Other properties include Christiana Mall in Newark, Del.; and Landmark Mall and Tysons Galleria in Northern Virginia, where M&T will be a co-provider of ATMs. The majority of the M&T ATMs will be installed by early 2009.
The ATM machines have several customer friendly features, including multiple language options and accessibility for the visually-impaired.
M&T Bank, the number two ranked bank in deposits in the region, has a strong network of branches near most of the malls.
For example, at the Columbia Mall, M&T is sponsoring the Santastic holiday promotion, in which shoppers are invited to go the nearby Clarksville M&T branch at 6015 Daybreak Circle for the chance to win a Nintendo Wii.
M&T Bank’s Mid-Atlantic headquarters is located in Baltimore. Founded in 1856, M&T Bank Corporation is one of the 20 largest U.S. bank holding companies, with $65 billion in assets, with more than 680 branch offices, and 1,700 ATMs in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, and Delaware.
