Derek C. Hathaway was elected to the Boards of Directors of M&T Bank Corporation ("M&T") and Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company ("M&T Bank"), and as a member of M&T's Audit Committee and Examining Committee. Mr. Hathaway is Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Camp Hill, PA-based Harsco Corporation, a diversified international company providing industrial services and engineered products to major global industries, including steel and metals, construction, gas and energy and railway transportation.

In 1998, Mr. Hathaway received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations, joining former U.S. Presidents, members of Congress and Nobel Laureates. He was appointed by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge to serve on the Governor's Commission on Academic Standards and in March 2002 appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Mark Schweiker as Chairman for the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board.

He is president of the Pennsylvania Society, director of the National Association of Manufacturers, director of the Pennsylvania Business Roundtable, director of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and board member emeritus of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.
