M&T announces $5,000 Grand Prize Winner of “What’s Important to You?” Contest

A volunteer firefighter from Maryland emerged as the winning vote-getter from among 2,166 entries in M&T Bank’s “What’s Important to You?” contest. In her winning entry, Jennifer Williams of Ashton, Md. wrote “impacting people’s lives in a positive way every day” is what’s most important to her, and added that she would give the $5,000 grand prize to a young man who has cerebral palsy.

Four Albany-area organizations received a boost to their homeownership education efforts through $21,000 in grants from M&T Bank. The funding will help the not-for-profit organizations provide educational services to homebuyers and homeowners about budgeting, mortgage lending, home maintenance and more, as well as home repair skills and services.

Wi-Fi Planned for Downtown Buffalo

M&T Bank is leading an effort to engineer, purchase and install an outdoor, public Wi-Fi network for downtown Buffalo in partnership with Mayor Byron Brown, the City of Buffalo and the University at Buffalo. The service, which will be ready for public use this summer, will have more than 30 hotspot access points along Main Street from North Street to Canalside and the Erie Basin Marina.
