Michael (Mike) Wisler is a Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of M&T Bank. In his role, Mike leads all aspects of technology for the company—from identifying emerging technology trends to day-to-day delivery of technology that supports the company’s 22,000+ employees, 1,000+ locations and millions of customers across the U.S. and Europe.
Mike has two decades of experience in the financial and technology industries. Prior to joining M&T in 2018, he held the positions of CTO of North American Credit Cards and CIO of Europe at Capital One. In 2014, Mike was recognized by Computerworld Magazine as one of the “Premier 100 Information Technology Leaders.”
He received a B.S. from the University of Findlay and a M.S in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia.
An advocate for women in the workplace and gender equality, Mike served on the Gender Partnership Council of the Anita Borg Institute, a global leader working to connect, inspire and guide women in computing. He also co-presented at the 2016 Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing and contributed to TechCrunch in December 2016 by authoring “How Male Allies Can Support Women in Technology.”
An active member of Western New York, Mike serves on the boards of TechBuffalo and 43North, the local startup accelerator and incubator. He is also actively engaged in advancing the region as a magnet for great tech talent, and was recently featured in Wool Magazine for his efforts. The Buffalo News also named him as part of “Buffalo’s Next Generation of Leadership.”
In his personal time, he is an avid runner and mountaineer, completing several marathons and three of the “Seven Summits:” Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, McKinley in Alaska, and Aconcagua in Argentina.
