Chief Information Officer
Michael Wisler is M&T Bank’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and leads all aspects of technology for the company—from identifying emerging technology trends to day-to-day delivery of technology that supports the company’s 21,000+ employees, 1,000+ locations, and millions of customers across the U.S. and Europe.
Mike has two decades of experience in the financial and technology industries. Prior to joining M&T in 2018, he held the positions of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of North American Credit Cards and CIO of Europe at Capital One. In 2014, Mike was recognized by Computerworld magazine as one of the “Premier 100 Information Technology Leaders.”
Mike served on the Gender Partnership Council of the Anita Borg Institute, a global leader working to connect, inspire, and guide women in computing. He also co-presented at the 2016 Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing and contributed to TechCrunch in December 2016 by authoring “How Male Allies Can Support Women in Technology.”
Mike also serves on the boards of TechBuffalo and 43North, the local startup accelerator and incubator. Additionally, he is engaged in advancing the region as a magnet for great tech talent and was recently featured in Wool Magazine for his efforts. The Buffalo News also named him as part of “Buffalo’s Next Generation of Leadership.”
Mike holds a master’s degree in management of information technology from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Findlay.
