ROCHESTER, N.Y.—M&T Bank will donate more than 1,000 Buffalo Bills blankets to students who attend the Rochester City School District School Expo January 7 at the Sibley Building. At the Expo, families have an opportunity to learn about all of the schooling options available to their children, and now the first 1,000 to arrive will receive a Bills blanket, courtesy of M&T Bank.
This year, RCSD is expanding the event and encouraging families with a child entering kindergarten to attend the expo to explore their elementary school options. Resources and information will also be available for families of a child entering seventh or ninth grade, as in previous years.
“When we learned the school district was expanding the RCSD School Expo and hoping to increase attendance, we were eager to help,” said Dan Burns, M&T Bank Regional President. “M&T Bank is committed to the Rochester community, and we hope this Buffalo Bills blanket giveaway will help rally enthusiasm and encourage even more families to take advantage of the academic resources available at the Expo.”
The RCSD School Expo is an important component of the district’s efforts to inform students and parents of the various city schools available to children as they advance to elementary, middle or high school. Faculty, staff and current students from RCSD schools will display exhibits where families can learn about each school’s offerings. Additionally, placement staff will be available to assist with the school selection process and early registration.
“The District is delighted about this generous donation of blankets from M&T Bank,” said Dr. Kendra March, Deputy Superintendent of the Rochester City School District. “M&T has a long history of supporting efforts to enhance education in Rochester, and this Bills blankets delivery is the latest example. We appreciate their support of the RCSD School Expo, which will help all of our families make informed decisions about the school selection process.”
Bills’ mascot Billy Buffalo will join M&T Bank representatives at the School Expo to give the blankets to students and families.
This special blanket donation builds upon M&T Bank’s work with the Buffalo Bills to help bring Rochester-area fans closer to the team. The bank is a longstanding supporter of training camp, and recently held an in-branch rally with Bills legend Thurman Thomas at their branch on East Avenue.
