Members of M&T Bank’s team in the Greater Washington region recently partnered with the Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County (CVC) to host the 'Holiday Giving Project.'
The Project, now in its third year, serves citizens who reside in the 20906 zip code in Montgomery County, Maryland. It provides a festive atmosphere for families to "shop” for gifts, while enjoying holiday music and refreshments.
“This season in particular is a wonderful opportunity for us to alleviate some of the stress families can feel as they work to ensure that their kids have an enjoyable holiday,” said Giuseppe Mastroeli, regional manager for Washington D.C. and Suburban MD Business Banking. “We are happy to continue our work with the CVC to give back to our community during such an important time of year.”
This year, the Project raised more than $15,000 in cash donations and collected over 500 toys. More than 75 volunteers including M&T employees and members of the local business community were in attendance to assist over 250 families and 600 children in choosing and wrapping gifts. Each family received a $25 toy, winter hats and gloves for each child, a $25 grocery store gift card, an M&T Bank bag filled with non-perishable food items, and for the lucky first 50 arrivals, a free turkey.
