M&T Bank Donates $100,000 to Central Pennsylvania Food Bank
Multi-year commitment helps trigger a $200,000 Matching Grant from the Stabler Foundation
HARRISBURG, PA.—M&T Bank announced today that it has made a multi-year commitment to donate $100,000 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, a contribution that helped to trigger a $200,000 matching grant from the Harrisburg-based Stabler Foundation.

The contribution places Central Pennsylvania Food Bank halfway toward the $1 million goal of its Bold Journey, Until No One is Hungry campaign, chaired by M&T senior relationship manager Ron Frick. The campaign is raising funds for the expansion of its Healthy Food Hub in Williamsport, PA, as well as supporting the organization’s continued good works across 27 Central Pennsylvania counties.

In Harrisburg, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank works with more than 170 local organizations to provide healthy, nutritious food to those in need. "The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank distributed more than 33 million meals, which included fresh foods, to local residents and we look forward to strengthening our relationship thanks to M&T Bank's involvement," Joe Arthur, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank executive director, explains.

This year, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will provide over 40 million meals to over 400,000 individuals while working with its 900 plus member partner network of non-profit organizations.

The $3 million expansion project of the Williamsport Healthy Food Hub will transform the facility with state-of-the-art nutrition education technology, inventory and equipment and the ability to expand programming for seniors and youth. At the same time, the Healthy Food Hub will work in partnership with many of the 10,000 farms in North Central Pennsylvania to help make available more than 1.4 million acres of fresh food to the community. The new facility, which broke ground in July, will include greatly expanded cooler, freezer and truck dock capacity and have more than 30,000 sq. ft. when it opens in November.

“M&T Bank’s generosity puts the Food Bank halfway to our vision of expanding the Healthy Food Hub while strengthening our footprint and impact in the 27 counties we serve,” says Arthur. “The bank’s dollars come with a tremendous multiplier effect by triggering the Stabler Foundation’s matching grant, as well as serving as the example of how other community groups and businesses can help feed hungry families.”

“With some of the most productive farmland in the country, Central Pennsylvania is blessed with great abundance,” says Steve Foreman, president of M&T Bank Central and Western Pennsylvania Region. “Yet, some still go hungry. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank plays a key role in providing those in need with the nutrition and education they need to live healthy lives. We’re extremely honored to partner with them, and provide much needed funding as they continue their good works and improve our community for those most in need.”
