PR Newswire
BUFFALO, N.Y.

BUFFALO, N.Y., March 5, 2013 -- M&T Bank has been recognized by Greenwich Associates with 10 Greenwich Excellence Awards — seven national and three regional honors — for providing excellent small business and middle market banking products and services.

Both M&T's middle market and small business banking divisions were recognized for Overall Satisfaction of clients in the Northeast Region. This is the 4th consecutive year that the bank has been recognized with multiple Greenwich Excellence Awards.

"We understand the vital role small business and middle market companies play in our communities as engines of those local economies," said M&T Bank President Mark Czarnecki. "That's why we continue to make new loans to businesses in our communities and were proud to grow our commercial loan portfolio by more than $2 billion last year, from $15.7 billion at the end of 2011 to $17.8 billion at the end of 2012."

M&T is the nation's 6th largest provider of U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and the leading SBA lender in most markets in its footprint, including the SBA Districts of Baltimore, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Syracuse, Washington, D.C., and Wilmington.

In the national categories for small business and middle market banking, M&T Bank received Greenwich Excellence Awards for:

  • Overall Satisfaction

  • Treasury Management – Overall Satisfaction

About the Greenwich Awards
Greenwich Excellence Awards are determined by banks' performance in Greenwich Associates annual U.S. Small Business and Middle Market Banking Research Study, in which decision makers from nearly 31,500 businesses with $1-500 million in annual sales name the banks they use and rate them in 14 banking and treasury management categories. Recognition is based on statistical differentiation at a 95 percent confidence level. Visit www.greenwich.com for more information.
